He was born Oct. 5, 1911, in Martin County, the son of William Leo Strange and Mary Susan Miles Strange.
On Feb. 15, 1936, he married Cleo Dunn Strange. She preceded him in death Sept. 1, 2001.
As a young man, he worked as an electrician for REMC in Martin and Davies Counties. In the early 1950's, he moved the family to Brazil area to join his brothers in business. Together, they owned and operated the Strange Furniture Mart, Inc., located in the 12 points area of Terre Haute.
Mr. Strange was a member of the Annunciation Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cleo, one sister Agatha Bobbitt, six brothers Harold Strange, Rev. Bernard Strange, Rev. Flavin Strange, Damon Strange, Martin Strange and Joseph Strange.
Survivors include his children Bernie Strange and wife Joyce, Clinton, Ron Strange and wife Patricia of Ormond Beach, Fla., Jerry Strange, Terre Haute, and Patty Deakins and husband David, Brazil, nine grandchildren Sam Strange, Laurie Ennen, Michael Strange, Ryan Strange, Jana Strange, Sean Strange, Jason Strange, Davy Deakins and Kimberly Deakins, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Annunciation Church, with Father Harold Rightor officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Family will gather at the funeral home prior to Mass on Thursday.
