EVANSVILLE -- The Wabash Valley will be well represented in this weekend's IHSAA State Wrestling Finals, unfortunately the contingent won't include the Northview Knights.

Northview's Larry Shaffer claimed the lone win during Saturday's Evansville Reitz Semi-state, a first round 8-4 decision against Charlestown's Jacob Hall. However, he drew unbeaten Chad Welch of Castle in round two and lost by technical fall, 15-2 to end his day with a fifth-place finish.

All three Welch brothers went on to claim semi-state championships on Saturday as Chad improved to 47-0 with his championship at 160. Sophomore Luke Welch is now 46-1 overall and took the 119-pound title and Doug Welch is now 46-1 and won at 152 on Saturday.
