According to officials, Michael P. Reffett, 34, was transported to the Clay County Justice Center Monday on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear for a jury trial in Clay Circuit Court on Dec. 15, 2010.
Reffett was supposed to stand trial in December for one count of class A misdemeanor intimidation and one class B misdemeanor harassment. The charges stem from an April 26-28, 2010, incident where Reffett allegedly sent text messages to an unidentified victim threatening to "hunt (the victim and several others) down and kill them" because the victim refused to see him.
When Reffett failed to appear in Clay Circuit Court with public defender Geoffrey Creason at the correct time, Senior Judge Diana Laviolette issued a bench warrant at the Clay County Prosecutor's Office request.
Jail officials confirmed to The Brazil Times that Reffett remains incarcerated at the facility without bond while awaiting further court proceedings.
