Hospital to host health and wellness fair

St. Vincent Clay Hospital has scheduled a Community Health and Wellness Fair for Saturday, March 5, at the YMCA of Clay County.

A variety of health-related screenings and informational booths will be available at the event.

The wellness fair will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Y, located at 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

Some of the informational booths on display include cholesterol screenings, blood pressure screenings, blood glucose screenings, CorVasc (Carotid Screenings), K-IDs BMV (ID Program, free ID cards for children), and Operation Medicine Cabinet (bring expired medications for disposal).

Departments within the hospital will also be on hand, including athletic trainer (concussion awareness), Car-diopulmonary, Dietary, ER, Health Access and MDS, laboratory (cholesterol screenings), Med/Surg-Swing Bed, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Surgery.

In addition, St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, State Flight, Ortho Indy, St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence, and St. Vincent Neuroscience Institute will be available.

Partners for the event include Air Evac, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Area Health Education Center, Brazil Public Library, Brazil Township Trustee, Children's Bureau, Clay County Health Department, Community Tissue Service, Hamilton Center, Harsha Behavioral Health, Indiana Organ Procurement Organization, IU National Center for Excellence in Women's Health, LEAAP Center, TransCare, United Way of the Wabash Valley, WIC Office, and the YMCA of Clay County.

The YMCA and XRKade will also be free and open to the public during the wellness fair.
