Reba Mae Clifton, Dover, Del., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del. She was 85.

Mrs. Clifton was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Brazil, to the late Otto and Ocie (Thomas) Sawyer, the youngest of eight children.

She worked as a crossing guard for Dover schools, then in Jello production at General Foods in Dover for 26 years. She was active in Lifestyles Fitness for more than 20 years, and a member of the People's Church of Dover.

Reba was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband of 59 years, Herbert Clifton, and especially loved their trips to Hawaii.

Reba cherished family. She was proud of her children and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. Reba also made time to stay connected with her extended family, in Indiana and around the country. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by sons Laurence Clifton, Courtland, Va., and Kenneth Clifton and his wife Janice, Wilmington, daughters Shirley Bellois and her husband Philip, and Nancy VanSant and her husband Levin, all of Felton, grandchildren Michelle and Brian Bellois, and Kimber and Michael VanSant, great-grandson Zachary Powell, and numerous nieces and nephews in Indiana.

Funeral services will take place at noon, Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover, Del. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, Del., 19901.
