According to information provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, deputies stopped to assist a motorist at the exit ramp of Interstate-70 at the State Road 59 exit at approximately 5:11 p.m.
One of the three males seen standing around the stalled truck began acting suspicious when deputies approached the vehicle.
A short time later, deputies discovered a package containing an undisclosed amount of a substance later testing positive for cocaine, and another substance that tested positive for marijuana.
One of the three individuals was arrested.
James Ted Whittington, 36, California, was taken into custody and booked into the Clay County Justice Center on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana, both class D felonies.
According to information, deputies reported the cocaine was allegedly packaged for sale.
The investigation, according to reports, is ongoing, but officials noted charges against Whittington could be amended to include dealing cocaine.
