Marilyn was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Bridgeton, Ind., to the late Alva Lloyd and Myrtle Louise (White) Valentine.
On Jan. 31, 1953, she married Robert "Bob" Edward Wells. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2006.
She spent most all of her life in Martinsville and was a sales consultant for JC Penney's in Martinsville for nearly 30 years, retiring from there in 2001. She later went to work at the Martinsville Shoe Show.
Marilyn was a member of the Springhill Christian Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed camping, bowling and IU basketball and was an avid reader.
She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss you dearly, including son Roberta (Loretta) Wells, Savannnah, Ga., daughters Debbie (Rick) Dunigan, Martinsville, Donna (Jack) Morris, Lutz, Fla., and Deanna Waskom, Indianapolis, brothers Larry Valentine, Springville, Ind., and Gerald Valentine, Plainfield, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years Bob Wells, brother Wayne Valentine, and one grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from 5-8 p.m., at Neal and Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, and one hour prior to service Thursday.
A service celebrating Marilyn's life will be Thursday, March 10, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New South Park Cemetery.
