GREENCASTLE -- The North Clay eighth-grade girls' basketball team wrapped up a 12-1 season and finished with a 12-game winning streak with a 47-26 victory against Greencastle on Thursday evening.
The 'A' team led 27-20 at halftime and, despite a slow third quarter, finished strong with a 15-point outburst in the fourth quarter for the victory.
McKenzi Kumpf tallied 12 points and added four rebounds for the Knights and Whitney Halfhill's two-point, five-rebound game doesn't tell the full tale of how well she directed the offense.
Mikayla Rowan posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Abbey Timberman added 10 points and four boards.
Emily Conrad added two points to go with three rebounds and Brittany Fagg had two points and two rebounds.
The eighth-grade 'A' team finished a junior high career that saw them ring up a 47-3 overall record.
In the 'B' game, the Knights dropped a 26-22 decision to the Tiger Cubs as Hannah Minor tallied 10 points and added four rebounds and Sydney Buell posted six points to go with four boards. Ramey Miller posted four points and two rebounds, Shea Britton added five rebounds to go with two points and Deaven McCrocklin scored two points with a rebound.
The seventh-grade North Clay girls lost a 34-9 decision in the 'A' game as Avery Deckard led the scoring with five points, Hannah Reason added two points and Brooklyn Fagg scored a point.
In the 'B' game, North Clay lost a 34-6 decision to the Tiger Cubs as Imane McCrea, Baylee Secrest and Deckard each had two points.
