Reminder to all candidates

Sunday, March 13, 2011

To all candidates:

The Brazil Times wishes to congratulate all of you on your decision to serve the City of Brazil and its residents.

By doing so, you have shown a true love for the community, as well as dedication and the desire to make this city a better place to live for everyone.

The Brazil Times has plans to announce the candidacies of all running in the upcoming Municipal Primary Election, scheduled for Tuesday, May 3. All we ask is that you let us know.

We are inviting all candidates to send in biographies to the newspaper, which we intend to run. We have set a deadline to stop running the biographies of prospective candidates for April 19, 2011.

Those running for office may send information to The Times until then, by calling 446-2216, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., e-mailing scoop1j@gmail.com, or by faxing 812-446-0938.

All candidates are encouraged to call the office to make sure we received the notice.

Candidate biographies will not run in Monday newspapers.

It is asked that biographies not exceed 300 words.

The biographies for each candidate will appear on the bottom-half of the front page. Candidates may provide pictures to The Times or, if needed, The Times will take a photograph of the candidate.

Another key element to get the word out about the campaign would be using The Brazil Times to advertise and share information with residents. The Brazil Times is published on Mondays, and Wednesday through Saturday.

Those running for office may also advertise at www.thebraziltimes.com, seven days a week.

Candidates interested in advertising in The Times should contact Cathy Fessenmeyer or John Adamson at The Times' office, or via e-mail at www.brazilads@yahoo.com.

In addition, all Letters to the Editor regarding candidates must be turned into The Times' office no later than Sunday, April 3.

No letters regarding the upcoming election will run in the newspaper following Monday, April 4.

Again, thank you for your dedication to Clay County and its residents.

Good luck in May.
