Rev. Max Elmer Nicoson, 94, Center Point, peacefully entered eternal life Monday, March 14, 2011.
He was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Ashboro, the son of Dennis Elmer and Cora Elnora (Morgan) Nicoson.
He was a 1934 Sugar Ridge Township High School-Ashboro graduate, 1953 Bachelor of Science Indiana State University graduate and 1958 Master of Divinity Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary graduate.
On Jan. 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Virginia Rose Haney, who preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1959.
On Aug. 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hixon Wessel, who preceded him in death May 4, 2007.
He served his country as a Technical Sergeant aircraft armorer in the Air Force from 1941-46.
In 1958, he was ordained an elder in the Methodist Church during annual conference at Bloomington and served several southern Indiana churches.
After 29 years actively serving his Lord, he retired to his Ashboro home place, becoming an active member of the Ashboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children Dennis Michael (Lori) Nicoson, Paula Nicoson-Gallion, and Cinda Jo (Eddie) Summa, stepchildren Leon Mack (Peggy) Wessel, and Myrna Lou (Mick) Gray, 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Gambrel and six sisters.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m., at Ashboro United Methodist Church with burial following at Ashboro Cemetery.
