NHS Winter Guard set for IHSCGA Finals

The 2011 Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) State Finals are scheduled to take place Saturday at Center Grove High School.

Schools in three classes will compete for titles. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens.

Northview will compete against five other groups in the World Class Division.

The World Class finals are set to start at 6:15 p.m., and conclude at 7:05.

Northview will take the court at 6:45 p.m.

Other schools competing in World Class include Lawrence Central, Center Grove, Warren Central, Avon and Carmel.

The Class A finals will begin at 1 p.m., and end at 3 p.m.

Schools involved include Carroll, Muncie Southside, Plainfield, Scottsburg, Fairfield, Angola, Maconaquah, Columbus North, Edgewood, Ben Davis, Goshen, Lawrence Central, Brownsburg, Franklin Central, Greenwood and Lafayette Jefferson.

In addition, the Open Class finals will begin at 4:39 p.m., and end at 5:24.

Schools competing include Terre Haute North, Jasper, Homestead, Kokomo, Greenwood and Greenfield-Central.

Awards will be handed out at 7:25 p.m.

In the IHSCGA State Prelims, which took place at Decatur Central March 12, Northview placed third overall, scoring an 82.80. Carmel won the event with a score of 88.40, while Avon was second at 86.20. Warren Central came in fourth with a score of 77.90, while Center Grove was fifth at 76.20 and Lawrence Central placed sixth with a score of 74.00.
