Northview Winter Guard earns Bronze

The Northview High School Winter Guard placed third in the World Class Division of the Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Finals Saturday.
Area percussion units compete in finals

The Northview High School Winter Guard came away with a Bronze Medal at the Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) State Finals Saturday.

The group competes in World Class, the most difficult level.

The Knights finished with a score of 86, placing third overall.

Carmel won the World Class Division with a 91.6 as Avon placed second at 89.6. Coming in fourth was Warren Central with a 79.7, while Lawrence Central was fifth with a 76.8 and Center Grove placed sixth with a 75.9.

In the Open Class competition, Greenfield-Central won with a score of 88.5, while in Class A, Lafayette Jefferson won with an 89.3.

Groups were scored in five categories, including equipment, movement, ensemble, effect 1 and effect 2.

The finals took place at Center Grove High School and involved the three classes only.

In the IHSCGA State Preliminary round, Northview placed third behind Carmel and Avon.

Meanwhile, the Northview Drumline competed in the Indiana Percussion Association (IPA) State Finals at Ben Davis High School Saturday.

Competing in the PSA Division, Northview placed seventh overall with a score of 77.25. Norwell won the competition with a score of 85.735, while Greenfield-Central was second at 82. Mt. Vernon placed third with an 80.605, while Carroll was fourth at 80.355 and Martinsville was fifth at 78.225. Avon "A" finished sixth at 77.935, followed by Northview, North Harrison (77.150), Greenwood (77.075), Vincennes Lincoln (76.395), Zionsville (75.825) and East Noble (75.535).

In the PSCA Division, Clay City competed, placing sixth overall with a score of 79.7.

Twin Lakes won the division with a 90.6, while New Castle Chrysler was second at 88.4, followed by Logansport (87.1), Lawrence North (86.5), Fishers "Concert A" (84.75), Clay City, Elkhart Central (78.35), Leo (76.05) and Pike Central (73.95).
