TERRE HAUTE -- The non-profit Maple Center for Integrative Health recently announced a new Therapeutic Yoga class, beginning Saturday, April 16.
Taught by Jan Croft, MS, LPT, licensed physical therapist and masters level mental health counselor, the class will meet for six Saturdays.
A gentle approach to improve physical conditioning, flexibility and relaxation skills, Therapeutic Yoga can be started by anyone.
According to reports, research has shown that the benefits of yoga include increased flexibility of the neck, back, chest and shoulders; improved physical strength and function; improved quality of life/inner peace; and decreased side effects from chemotherapy.
The classes will meet at the Hux Cancer Center from 10-11:30 a.m., on April 16, 23, 30 and May 7, 21 and 28.
The sessions are sponsored by the Hux Cancer Center, 1711 N. 6 ½ St., Terre Haute, north of Union Hospital.
The classes are limited to 20 participants and registration is required.
Registration fee is $60 for all six classes.
