DANA, Ind. -- The Ernie Pyle Historic Site in Dana is now scheduling tours for schools and other child and adult groups.

Tour group admission fees are as follows:

* School-sponsored tour -- $1 per student,

* Adult groups -- $3 per person, and

* Child groups -- $1.50 per child.

Cynthia Myers, president of the Friends of Ernie Pyle, said schools and other groups may schedule tours for any time.

To arrange a tour, call the site at 1-765-665-3633 and leave a message detailing the request, or call Myers directly at 1-765-665-3084.

Myers said the site, which features the house in which Pyle was born and a museum dedicated to preserving Pyle's legacy as a World War II correspondent, is currently being operated by the Friends of Ernie Pyle, a non-profit organization, under special arrangement with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The organization plans to open the site to the public on Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 14.

Saturday hours will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday hours will be 1-4 p.m.

General admission for visitors is $3.50 for adults, $3 for adults 55-older, $2 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3-under.
