Letter to the Editor

Student in search of mining info

Sunday, March 27, 2011

To the Editor:

I am an anthropology graduate student at Indiana University (Bloomington) and I'm doing a small-scale project about surface coal mining in western Indiana.

I'm really interested in the history of coal mining in the region and would really like to talk to or interview anyone who is or has been employed at any of the area mines.

I know The Brazil Times has published a few pieces about mines in the area and thought that if this letter were to be published, I might get some takers.

I would only be asking a few questions and I'd be very grateful for your help.

Anyone who is interested in telling me a little bit about the surface coal mining industry in Indiana (and it can be in the form of a phone interview or an e-mail interview) can contact me at anytime with the information I've provided.
