Annual Senior Picnic scheduled at Forest Park

Sunday, March 27, 2011

The Area 7 Agency Area Day Senior Picnic has been scheduled to take place Friday, May 27, at Forest Park.

For the second year in a row, the agency will conduct a grand prize drawing at the picnic for two reservations for its trip to Branson, Mo., in October. Those interested in the drawing must be present to win.

The sounds of Elvis will be heard during the event, as Elvis impersonator Bruce Borders will take the stage.

In addition, Melony Brown will return to the event to provide entertainment.

The picnic is open to everyone 50-older and cost is $8 per person.

Ticket cost includes entertainment, lunch (box lunch), small games, goodie bag, exhibit booths, snacks and the opportunity to win door prizes.

A special logo item will be given out this year as the agency will give away T-shirts to all ticket purchasers.

The annual event will begin at 10 a.m., and conclude at 2:30 p.m.

The menu for this year's picnic is ham and cheese on a sub roll, potato salad and chocolate chip cookie.

This year's meal is sponsored by the businesses of Sunset Harbor, Inc., Meadows Home health Care, Meadows Manor East, Meadows Manor North and Cannon Inn.

A special treat this year will be banana splits.

Various local businesses are sponsoring the treat.

Reservations must be made in advance on or before May 20. Those interested in attending are asked to send check or money order payable to West Central Indiana Economic Development District (WCIEDD), Inc., along with forms to Area Day Reservation, 1718 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, Ind., 47807.

Tickets may also be purchased at the Area 7 Agency office, located at 1718 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

No tickets will be refunded after May 16.

Van transportation will be available in Parke, Vermillion and Vigo counties on a first-come, first-serve basis.
