Alpha Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa
The Alpha Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met on March 7, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church.
Hostesses for this month were Megan Bayler and Vanessa Paullus. President Larissa Goshen called the meeting to order, followed by the opening song and verse.
Vanessa Paullus took roll call and read the minutes from the January meeting. The minutes were accepted as read. Mandy Slater gave the treasurers report. The treasures report was accepted as read.
Amy Jones asked for a check to pay for the Longaberger baskets. Amount is unknown. Mary Yelton made a motion to pay the bill and Danna Johnson seconded it.
Larissa Goshen read correspondence. Rogene Morge sent a thank you letter for the $150 donation to Habitat for Humanity. A thank you note was also read from Mary Yelton for the Willow Tree angel and multiple dinners the sisters provided for her.
A letter was read from Joanna Connors asking for a donation to the Family Consumer Science "We Wish You Well" program for girls. Mary Yelton motioned to donate a $25 manicure and Nicole Keller seconded. Michelle Oehler also sent a letter asking for a donation to the Northview High School post prom. Danna Johnson donated a gift card for manicure.
The YMCA pledge card was also read and $1000 is already budgeted for this. Larissa Goshen also presented the Strong Kids Campaign plaque in honor of Tri Kappa being a sustaining member.
No little perks were given.
Project committee reports were given next. Beef House roll order forms were handed out. Orders need to be turned in with money at the next meeting April 4, 2011. Orders will be delivered on April 15, 2011. Rolls, apple butter and jam will all be sold for $8.
Amy Jones also passed out Longaberger Basket Bingo tickets as well as raffle tickets. Bingo ticket prices are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Raffle tickets will be sold for 1 for a $1 or 6 for $5. The two raffle gifts are a large stow away basket and a Get Together Picnic basket set. Amy is still asking for donations for door prizes and asked that each member make a snack to sell for .50 at the event.
The literacy project was discussed next. Meganne Holley bought Ready Freddy books from scholastic and members placed Tri Kappa stickers in each of them. Larissa Goshen will pass the books out to every second grader in Clay County.
New business was discussed. New member forms were read. Kyler Clark, Shelby French and Sydney Hayes are legacies. Lecia Brown, Mandy Loughmiller, Heather Runyon Campbell, Tawnya Whittington, Kim Riddell and Allie Anderson's names were also read.
New criteria for the scholarships were also read. One major change is no child or grandchild of a past or present member of Tri Kappa will be allowed to apply. A basket was then passed around to collect money for the general fund, and Danna Johnson was the winner of Bath and Body lotions.
The closing verse was recited and the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on April 4 with location to be announced.
