The money will be used to renovate the outdoor restroom facilities and repair plumbing issues.
The fairgrounds council requested money from Farm Bureau in October 2010. FBCU agreed to sponsor the restroom renovations if the council found someone to match its offer of $1,000.
Bloomfield REMC matched the contribution with another $1,000 donation and renovation began.
"This money will help the fairgrounds with saving water and toweling issues," Nuckolls said.
"We maintain our own fairgrounds. It takes at least $35,000 a year to keep up with the maintenance. Anytime we receive grants or donations they are a blessing," Knox said.
Nuckolls said the money will fund renovations to repair water drainage that seeped into the beef barn a couple years ago and to install more energy efficient human waste depositories.
"We want to repair the outdoor restrooms, upgrade the plumbing, put in higher efficiency stalls and fix the water lines to make them run smoother," Knox said.
"There are some projects we have finished, but many are still works in progress. Everything should be done in about a month," Fairgrounds chairman Jim Stevenson said.
