CLAY CITY -- The Clay City Eels earned their first softball victory of the season on Thursday evening, defeating North Knox by a 13-3 score in six innings.
Clay City tallied a run in the first inning to take the lead before blowing the game open with a five-run second frame.
Alex Wolfe reached on a single before Allie Miller was hit-by-pitch and Kendall Fowler loaded the bases with a single. Miller scored on an error and Karen Treadway brought a run home with a sacrifice fly to centerfield. Abby Reed followed with a two-run double into the centerfield gap and Madison Booe brought her home with another double for a 6-0 Eels' advantage.
Clay City's advantage grew to 11-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the Eels finished off the win.
Miller smacked a double and scored on a pair of passed balls. Dani Tincher was hit-by-pitch and moved to third on two passed balls. Fowler reached on another walk before Souder's double down the first base line invoked the 10-run rule.
Booe was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI, Miller was also 2-for-4 and drove home two and Reed also added two hits.
Whitney Jeffers got her first pitching win by allowing three runs, one of them earned, while striking out six batters and not allowing a walk.
