Katie, who is the daughter of Mark and Dawn Rogers, Brazil, got to meet up close with the dolphin, which has a prosthetic tail.
Katie also has a prosthetic leg.
While visiting the Clearwater Sea Aquarium, she got up close and personal with the animal.
"It was pretty cool," Katie said.
Katie and her mother visited with Jean Harris' fourth-grade Forest Park class recently to discuss the trip.
Dawn showed the students a book that detailed Winter's journey, including how she was found in a crab trap line, unable to escape.
Winter was eventually rescued near Cape Canaveral, before eventually beginning rehabilitation. However, she lost her tail and two vertebrae as a result of the injuries she sustained.
During the visit to the aquarium, Katie was able to pet and feed Winter.
In addition, she had her picture taken with the dolphin and was given a stuffed dolphin.
Katie and her mother also shared seashells they have collected throughout the years.
"This is the best day ever," Katie said.
Dawn added a film, "Dolphin Tale," describing Winter's journey, is scheduled to be released later this year.
