Despite a rain delay, the 2011 Riddell National Bank Northview Invitational went on Saturday afternoon. Twelve teams participated, including Northview and Clay City.

Terre Haute South took home the trophy for the seventh time in the last eight years with a score of nine-over-par 293.

The Knights finished with a score of 314, good for fourth in the tournament.

"I was pleased," Northview head coach Scott Buell said. "First of all, the weather. I want to thank Troy Farris, Mark Rodgers and everybody here at Forest Park for getting things ready to go. Luckily we turned out having a great day. I was pleased with our play."

Thomas Goss of Terre Haute South was the medalist with a score of 68, to edge Cloverdale's Chris Arnold. Northview's Larry Knight tied with South Vermillion's Brandon Bekkering for third on the day, carding a round of 73.

Brad Smith shot a 77, including a birdie on the eighth hole.

Other Northview scores were Jacob Musgrave with an 80, Dylan Nesty shot an 84, and Austen Bowen shot a 95.

"If you had asked me before we started if I would've taken 314, I would've probably told you yeah," Buell said. "Larry Knight had a great round, tied for third overall. Other guys played better. We've got things to work on but we're moving in the right direction. I was pleased with everybody's scores. We struggled here and there but overall I thought everybody had a pretty solid day."

Clay City's also exceeded expectations in their golf outing Saturday, despite coming in tenth with 343 team points.

"I was very pleased with how we played today," Clay City head coach Josh Strain said. "Considering the conditions, we played way better than I expected."

Darius Farmer, the Eels' number two player, shot a team high 82. Koby Rhodes and Austin Sinders each shot an 85. Colten Dyer scored an 87, and Rhett Bigger shot a 106.

The Knights will host Terre Haute South on Wednesday afternoon at Forest Park while Clay City hosts Rockville on Tuesday.
