I have lived most of my life in Brazil, with the exception of when I was called to serve my country. I was in the U.S. Air Force for four years. After this time, I worked at Quaker Maid Company in Terre Haute. Then I worked as a police dispatcher for the Brazil Police Department for quite a while and later hired on as a full-time police officer.
I later attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis.
I retired after 20 years of service as a police officer.
My wife, Virginia, and I opened up a restaurant known as the Double-N-Diner and also Nelson Family Restaurant, formerly the Old Blue Bonnett.
I also had a Dump Trucking business for 45 years my wife and I worked together until she passed away Aug. 14, 2005.
I currently serve on the Brazil Board of Works and I have been on there for more than seven years. I am a member of many different organizations, including the Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge No. 409, Eastern Star No. 80, Shriners of Terre Haute --Valley of Terre Haute 32nd degree Mason, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, American Legion for 43 years, Indiana Chiefs of Police and Indiana Farm Bureau.
I currently attend Bee Ridge church.
My top priorities are the streets, implementing a recycle system for the entire community, to cut down on dumping fees (it is very costly), and checking other areas on unneeded spending, and paving and repairing the streets whenever the funds become available, whether they be through grants or other funding.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
