What started as a question posed on a social media site has turned into an actual event.

On Friday, the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, will host its first Adult Easter Egg Hunt.

The event is set to start at 9 p.m., Friday, and will take place in the grass field south of the Y facility.

Participants must be 18-older and the event will be free to take part in. Those interested in attending are asked to bring their own flashlights.

"It's just something fun and different for folks to do," YMCA of Clay County CEO Deborah Plummer told The Brazil Times. "We expect it to be a fun time for adults in our community to remember what it was like when they were younger. It will be a fun, community event."

Plummer said many different communities, such as Terre Haute, conduct adult Easter Egg Hunts.

The event was set in motion when local resident Nick French asked friends of his on Facebook if they would be interested in attending an adult Easter Egg Hunt.

"There were several positive comments," French said.

French said he discussed the possibility of the event with Plummer, who moved forward with it.

Plummer told The Brazil Times some of the eggs will have candy in them, while others will have printed paper in them stating, "Happy Easter." In addition, she said some of the eggs will have day passes for the YMCA in them as well.

Plummer asks that all leave the plastic eggs at the Y after gathering what is inside them.

"If this is something that is well received and is something that is enjoyable as a community event, we will look into it on an annual basis," Plummer said.
