Thanks to a close couple of shots, the Northview boy's golf team came away with a win Monday afternoon against Cloverdale and Shakamak with a team score of 163.
The Knights' number one, Larry Knight, shot a team-high 38, including a two-shot on hole 5. Brad Smith came in second for Northview with a score of 40. Jacob Musgrave shot a 43, Dylan Nesty scored a 45, Drew Atkinson shot a 44 and Austen Bowen scored a 42.
"Austen Bowen came in there at the end," Northview head coach Scott Buell said. "That was the score that won it for us."
The Knights' victory was a close one, as Cloverdale shot a team score of 165. Shakamak came in third with 188. Cloverdale's Chris Arnold was the medalist with a 37.
"We've been making way too many mistakes, too many out-of-bounds," Buell said. "Too many three-putts. We're fortunate to come away with a victory tonight. They're working hard, they're trying as hard as they can right now, but for whatever reason, we can't eliminate our mistakes."
The junior varsity also played well with a team score of 182.
The Knights play Saturday at the Terre Haute South Invitational.
