At approximately 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, the boil order affecting water customers in Brazil, Carbon, Center Point, Knightsville and Harmony was lifted.
The order was set in place after officials had to shut off the water tower due to a break in a 12-inch water line Friday on Murphy Avenue, about one-half mile south of United States 40.
Due to work on the line, many residents were without water into late Saturday afternoon.
Per state health protocols, once water services are restored, three water samples must be taken to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) to for Bac-T and contaminant testing on two consecutive business days.
The Brazil Water Department sent the samples on Monday and Tuesday, and IDEM confirmed the safety of the water Wednesday afternoon.
