Northview High School senior Taylor Pinnick has been invited to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournament football competition in Australia this summer.

Pinnick, a standout lineman for the Knights who was selected to the all-Wabash Valley Coaches Association second team last fall, is seeking donations from community businesses and individuals to help pay for the trip expenses.

Anyone interested in donating should contact Pinnick at (812) 877-2258 or at 1598 Gobblers Knob Rd. , Terre Haute , IN 47803 .

"A major source of funds comes through voluntary contributions of family, friends, and business sponsors," Pinnick said. "Your sponsorship will help me fulfill this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Down Under Sports is affiliated with International Sports Specialists International.

The Down Under Bowl was inaugurated in 1989 and was established to promote gridiron to the people of New Zealand and Australia. Prior standouts of the Down Under Bowl include former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake "The Snake" Plummer, Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green and Indianapolis Colts linebacker Rob Morris.

The Down Under Bowl is in its 23rd year of competition with teams from the United States, Australia and New Zealand invited to participate. Teams are divided into brackets of four, with each team playing in two games.

In January, Pinnick competed in the All-World Gridiron Classic strongman competition and finished as the Senior Overall MVP, topping his competitors in the tire flip and medicine ball toss.
