JASONVILLE -- Jasonville City Police Department units and a Greene County Sheriff's Department deputy responded to a car that had driven into flood waters early Thursday on County Road 1000 W (Lone Tree Road) between States Roads 48 and 59 in Smith Township.
Luckily, when three Jasonville police officers arrived on the scene at 12:11 a.m., the driver, Rachel W. Pennington, Brazil, and a passenger, Carl L. Pennington, Dugger, were out of the 1995 Ford Escort and standing on the roadway, according to information on a call card that was provided by the Greene County Sheriff's Department. No injuries were reported.
Following the incident, the Greene County Highway Department was dispatched to close the roadway between SR 48 and SR 59. Also assisting at the scene was Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jeremy Inman, and personnel from the Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce said there was another incident where a vehicle ran off of SR 59 -- near the intersection with County Road 200 S (Old Lyons Road) -- and into some of the high water Monday.
Indiana State Police and Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers worked the incident. No one was reported injured.
