NHS Super Bowl team performs well

The Northview High School Academic Super Bowl team traveled to Greencastle recently to compete in the district competition for the Indiana Association of School Principals statewide contest.

The Fine Arts team of Caroline Disney, Chelsea Barnett, Artur Paiva and Bethany Wright placed first among the 18 schools in attendance and missed qualifying for the state finals by one question.

The team correctly answered 16 of 25 questions on the theme of, "Latin America."

The interdisciplinary team placed second overall at district and first in Class 1 for schools of more than 1,000 students.

The team of Evan Pierce, Disney, Zeb Thomas, Gwendolyn Snow and Paiva also correctly answered 16 questions coming from all five subject areas.

The Math team of Thomas, Shad Brattain and Ji Park answered 17 questions correctly to finish fourth in its class.

The Social Studies team, composed of Pierce, Minh Tong, Jonathon Burns and Levi Allen, placed fourth in its class, while the Science team of Brattain, Thomas, Brandon Pleake and Snow placed fifth overall and fourth in its class at district.

In addition, the English team of Disney, Wright and Snow finished fifth in its class.

The teams were coached by David Unsinger (Math), Emily Gough (Science), Rayna White (Fine Arts) and Joey Bennett (English, Social Studies).
