A Clay City man was arrested amid allegations of felony child molesting Monday night.

According to information provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Michael Lee, 59, former resident of Florida, became a suspect in the case after several recent complaints of sexual activity between Lee and a 14-year-old female juvenile were reported to authorities.

During the investigation, officials received allegations of misconduct from the victim, as well as several family members, dating back to when the female was 6-years-old and living in the Florida area before the family moved to Clay County in 2010.

Apparently Lee, who moved to the area with the family, was also recently caught with the female on several occasions.

With help from the Clay County Division of Child and Family Services, investigators were able to develop enough probable cause for an arrest warrant to be issued in the matter.

Lee was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Monday evening and booked into the Clay County Justice Center on preliminary charges of class A felony Child Molesting and a separate charge of Child Neglect. Issued a $100,000 cash bond (with no 10 percent allowed), Lee remains incarcerated to await formal court proceedings in the matter.

If the family knew that he was molesting her and had reported it why would they allow him to move here with them ? do not quite understand that . As a parent I would do all that was within my power to keep him from my child .

Maybe they didn't "allow" him to move here. These guys are PREDATORS .. they FOLLOW their PREY.

Sick and twisted individuals, these guys. I'm with SNOW. Disgusting.

"Allegations of misconduct" from a 6yo child? PLEASE! The 12yo is involved because, at 6 years old, she isn't mature enough or strong enough to fend off a GROWN MAN!

This is not her fault. As a 6yo or 12yo child, she depends on her family to protect her. If that was not done, the charges shouldn't stop with the predator.

I am saddened and sickened by what happened to this poor child. I hope all who are involved (or who looked the other way) are made to pay for their role in this.
