GREENCASTLE -- The Clay City girls' softball ran into a tough South Putnam team Tuesday resulting in an 8-0 loss on the road.
The Eels committed four errors in the game and logged just two hits in the defeat. After struggling early, starting pitcher Whitney Jeffers, settled down in the final two innings, not allowing a hit.
South Putnam capitalized on fielding miscues in the first three innings, racking up six of the Eagles' eight runs. Abby Reed and Madison Booe accounted for the Eels' only hits on the evening.
Clay City will be back in action Thursday evening against the North Daviess Cougars on the road at 5 p.m.
