Charles J. O'Dell, 73, Carbon, died May 6, 2011, at 12:05 a.m., at Union Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Carbon, the son of Thurman C. O'Dell and Ruby Carlin O'Dell. He was one of the oldest of 10 children. He worked in construction from 1969-1976, and then later worked doing lawn maintenance for families in Clay County. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and being outdoors looking for mushrooms and ginseng.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Tom, Frank, Bob, Lester and Ralph O'Dell, and one sister Ester.
Survivors include his three sisters Norma Dake and husband Ben, Brazil, Clara Hoffman, Clay City, and Kate Mandrell, Shelbyville, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Monday, at 1 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
