Barbara Jo Sorrels, 60, Brazil, passed away May 5, 2011.
She was born Aug. 7, 1950, in Asheville, N.C., to the late Martin and Marjorie (Cooper) Gross.
She is survived by her husband Bob, children Matt, Moriah and Mo, brothers Gary and Jules, grandchildren Owen and Jackson, as well as an extended family of cats, dogs and birds.
Barbara was a very kind, loving and generous person, as well as strong-willed (OK, stubborn). Her family and friends was the most important thing to her. She had a beautiful way of making her relationships with others special and unique through her witty creativeness. She enjoyed nature, tending to her houseplants, baking, the svelte use of the written word, being a mother, a wife and a true friend.
In her 15 years at Forest Park, she formed many close relationships, which sustained her throughout her career. Barbara loved her work with each child, helping them grow into their own special selves.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 4-6 p.m., at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil. A celebration of life will follow. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
You are invited to visit the online memorial page at www.frenchfuneralhome.com, where you can share a personal message with the family.
This is a Haiku that Barbara wrote in 2010. We think she would enjoy sharing it with you.
