Denise Dawn Nuckols, 53, Brazil, went to be with her Lord and Savior May 9, 2011, following a 30-year battle with Myasthenia Gravis, as well as lupus.

She was born Nov. 3, 1957, in Brazil, to Rev. Harold and Charlotte (Rothacher) Haverty. Denise graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1976. She married Steve Nuckols July 5, 1974. She had worked at Sign Express, Terre Haute, as well 5/3 Bank, Brazil, from which she left due to illness in 2005.

Denise was a member of the Carbon Baptist Church for many years.

Denise enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren. She had also enjoyed playing piano, watching the Duke Blue Devils Basketball and Cubs Baseball, and in her younger years crocheting.

Denise was preceded in death by her son Shaun Nuckols, parents Rev. Harold and Charlotte Haverty, in-laws George and Norma Nuckols, brother-in-law Dan Minnick, sister-in-law Shirley Edwards, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her husband Steven D. Nuckols, son Steven D. Nuckols II (Stephanie), grandchildren Chase and Camri Nuckols, sisters Bonnie Johnson, Marilyn Branum (Larry), Joy Wilson (Terry) and Cindy Wright (Jim), brother Harold Haverty Jr. (Marcia), sister-in-law Deanna Minnick, brothers-in-law George Nuckols (Kennetta) and Gary Nuckols (Diane), uncle Rev. Howard Castle, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Friday, May 13, 2011, with Pastor Gary Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, from 4-8 p.m.
