Local graduate earns degree of Doctor of Medicine

Becky Chrisman, of Brazil, would like to announce the graduation of her daughter, Christina Chrisman, from Indiana University School of Medicine. Christina is graduating on May 14, 2011, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

At IU School of Medicine, Christina has been active in the Student Interest Group in Neurology, American Medical Women's Association, Medical Spanish Group, and volunteered at a medical clinic in rural Guatemala.

Christina is a 2007 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she attained a B.S. with honors in biomedical engineering.

She was also the 2003 valedictorian of Northview High School in Brazil.

Dr. Chrisman will be specializing in the field of neurology. She will be a resident physician in Chicago, Ill., at St. Francis Hospital for her transitional year, then will complete the remaining three years of her neurology training at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz., a top-ten national program.

Her family members, which include mother Becky Baratto Chrisman, Brazil, grandparents Margaret and Gino Baratto, Brazil, late great-grandmother, Geneive Baratto, Brazil, and sister, Melissa Chrisman, North Chicago, Ill., are very proud of her accomplishments.
