Born May 29, 1939, she was the daughter of Eldon C. "Doc" Wells and Mary Louise Langley Wells Miller.
Joan was a graduate of Brazil High School in 1957. For many years, she was a cook at Van Buren Elementary and later worked at Clay County and Terre Haute Regional Hospitals.
Joan enjoyed singing, dancing, making people laugh and loved sitting in parking lots "people watching."
Joan treasured her time with her four grandchildren and great-granddaughter watching them play sports, perform in dance recitals and taking them fishing.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nelson L. Stockrahm and a daughter, Jennifer J. Stockrahm.
Joan is survived by her daughters Penny (Mark) McMichael and Sarah Stemm, grandchildren Tony McMichael and his fiance Betsy Ummel, Reva (Bill) Oellig, Cassie and Amy Stemm, great-granddaughter Morgan Oellig, sister Janice Manley, aunt Minnie Michki, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place at St. John's United Church of Christ, Center Point, from 2-4 p.m., with services at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2011, with Pastor Tom Blossom officiating.
Private family burial services will take place at a later date at Calcutta Cemetery.
