According to Brazil City Police Chief Larry Pierce, around 8 a.m., Saturday, a young man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt (with what appeared to be Chinese writing on the front) entered Hardee's, 304 East National Avenue, and went directly to the restroom. After a few moments, he exited wearing sunglasses and walked to the counter where he handed a cashier a note.
The note, according to Pierce, informed the cashier he had a gun and would start shooting people in the crowded restaurant if they didn't comply.
"The note was misspelled," Pierce said. "It read 'shoting.'"
When the cashier stepped away from the counter with the note, Pierce said the suspect apparently got nervous and left the scene on foot.
No money was taken and no one was hurt during the incident.
"Although no weapon was shown during the incident, this is still an attempted robbery," Pierce said.
Officials are currently awaiting the restaurant corporation officials to provide the department with video surveillance tapes of the incident to get a better idea of the suspect's description.
