CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait -- Weapons blazing, soldiers engaged paper insurgents, resembling a scene out of an old western movie.

More than 150 Indiana National Guard Soldiers with the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BfSB) assembled in lines and when cleared to fire, unleashed a hailstorm of bullets at their man-shaped targets during individual weapons training May 11, at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, in preparation for their movement into Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

The soldiers were required to test fire their M4 rifles, M9 pistols, or squad automatic weapons before entering the combat theater in Iraq, as many had not fired since they qualified with their weapons during pre-mobilization training.
