Participants will gather for registration at the YMCA of Clay County 8 a.m., Saturday, May 21, and leave for Moonshine Restaurant, West Union, Ill., promptly at 9 a.m.
Cars are welcome, also for $10, but must drive at the back of the pack for motorcyclist's safety.
Participants need to make sure their vehicles are fully fueled because there will only be one stop at a halfway point for fuel and a bathroom break.
There will also be a bike show this year, with prizes for bikes featuring the best "Spirit of Relay," best bike, and such. Since this year's Relay theme was "A Red Carpet Event to 'Cut' Cancer," a special award will be given for the best movie theme.
Tie-dyed Relay T-shirts will be available for a $5 donation, and "Was Word" fundraiser shirts will also be available for $10. The restaurant boasts of having "the best hamburgers and cheeseburgers going. Just like the ones grandma used to make in a cast iron skillet."
Participants wanting to enjoy lunch at the restaurant are urged to bring their own cash because the restaurant does not accept debit/credit cards or checks.
After dinner, participants will be free to ride to other destinations or return to Brazil with the group.
All funds raised during the ride will be used to support the 2011 Clay County American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
