BOONVILLE -- The Northview softball team came away from the Boonville Invitational on Saturday with a pair of narrow losses against tough competition.
The Knights lost the opening game by a 2-0 score against the eighth-ranked host squad.
Ashley Hughes, Hope Torbert, Sarah Phillips and Lauren Webster each had a hit, but the Knights were unable to dent the scoreboard.
In game two, the Knights led early, 1-0, before North Posey pushed across three runs against Northview starter, Sarah Phillips. The Knights fell behind 4-1 in the fifth inning, but rallied to tie the score. However, North Posey added solo runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to earn the win.
Taylor Carter was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, Jessica LaTourette was also 2-for-4.
The Knights (18-6 overall) play Plainfield in the second game of the Terre Haute North Sectional at approximately 8 p.m.
This evening, the opening game of the sectional will be Terre Haute South taking on Martinsville at 6 p.m. followed by the Northview vs. Plainfield game.
On Tuesday, the winners will face each other at 6 p.m. followed by Terre Haute North taking on Mooresville.
The championship game is at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
