Robert "Bob" E. Headley, 63, Brazil, died May 29, 2011, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion Campus.
He had been a patient there for almost three years.
He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Clay County, the son of Bert and Faye Headley.
He graduated from Brazil High School.
He worked for a short time at one of the brick plants, before joining the U.S. Army. He spent three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was wounded while deployed and was exposed to Agent Orange.
Bob was a member of the V.F.W. No. 1127, and the American Legion Post 2. He enjoyed spending time with family and hosting cookouts. He also loved to watch the New York Yankees Baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Debbie Headley Williams and brother Don Headley.
He is survived by his wife Bernice Lints Headley, whom he married May 9, 2002, son Robert Headley, daughter Stacey Headley, Brazil, sisters Judy Durbin and Linda Headley, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will take place at 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, at French Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Laskowski officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6 p.m., until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, and with the remembrance of Memorial Day and the service that Bob did for his country, it is suggested that friends kindly donate to Bernice to help with expenses.
