Lovers of strawberries will make their way to the Clay County Courthouse for the fourth Christmas In The Park Strawberry Festival Friday.

Christmas In The Park Board President Linda Ray told The Brazil Times she hopes to see more people than last year, adding approximately 1,200 items were sold at last year's event.

"The weather is supposed to be really nice," Ray said. "Last year, it increased quite a bit. Each year, we've surpassed what we did the year before. We have a big turnout for the festival.

"I think it's been fantastic."

All proceeds from the event will go to help fund Christmas In The Park's annual Christmas Celebration, which Ray said usually costs more than $10,000.

"All of that is money we have to work for," Ray said. "It's a pretty big expense for us."

The organization also conducted a Country Roads Seafood Festival in May and also has its annual Haunted House fundraiser.

"We don't keep any of that money," Ray said. "It all goes back to the community."

The annual Christmas In The Park Strawberry Festival will take place Friday, at the Clay County Courthouse.

Friday's event will begin at 11 a.m., and conclude at 7 p.m., or when all the food runs out.

This year's menu will include Strawberry Shortcake with frozen custard provided by Ritter's Frozen Custard, hot dogs, coney dogs and beverages. Sugar-free items will also be available.

The Works will also be available again this year, which includes strawberries, homemade shortcake, whipped cream and frozen custard.

Ray said the prices this year as the same as last year. Cost for Strawberry Shortcake is $5 and $6 for The Works.
