The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Announcement

The Rotary Club of Brazil is searching for groups for grounds pick-up during the 4th of July Celebration for the mornings of June 29-July 5.

Organizations interested are asked to pick one or more days.

Pay is $75 daily.

Rotary will supply bags and disposal.

Typically, pick-up begins at 8 a.m., and usually takes one hour.

Community Choir

The Brazil Community Patriotic Choir will have practices Thursday nights beginning at 7 p.m., at Bee Ridge Church.

Sam Glover will serve as director.

All who can sing and love the country are invited to join the choir.

The group will perform at Forest Park July 4 during the Rotary Club of Brazil's annual Fourth of July Celebration.

Meeting Scheduled

The Clay County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., today, June 6, in the lower level of the museum.

Vice President Deneta Campbell will provide a program in honor of the 67th anniversary of D-Day.

The society extends a special invitation to all veterans and if any veteran served during the invasion, they are welcome to share their story.

The public is invited.

Summer Program

Summer reading programs at the Brazil Public Library will begin June 8.

Make and Take crafts will be offered June 8, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

On June 15, also at 1:30 p.m., Kool Smiles Dentistry will be offered.

All programs are free and open to the public.

Meeting Set

The American Legion Post 2 will meet at the V.F.W. No. 1127 meeting room Thursday, June 9, at 7 p.m.

The Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m., also in the meeting room.

Plans are to discuss the legion's financial situation and a possible recovery plan.

Yard Sale

Clay County Animal Rescue will conduct a yard sale/adoption event June 10-13.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the care of the animals.

During the four days of the yard sale, everything possible wanted for a pet or a new pet will be available, including spay/neuter and shots.

There will be more than enough of small breeds and puppies at the event to make someone a great pet.

Also, donations will be accepted through paypal.

Support Organization

Support Habitat for Humanity of Clay County Friday, June 10, with a purchase from Pizza Hut in Brazil.

On the second Friday of each month, from 4-8 p.m., 20 percent of qualifying purchases will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Clay County. Those wishing to donate should mention Habitat for Humanity when paying the bill.

Quilt Show

The Clay City Calico Quilters will sponsor their 24th show, along with the Clay City Lion's Club Pottery Festival Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12.

The show will be set up in the R.E.I.N. Center Community Library, 700 Main St. Show hours at 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday.

The show will open before other festival activities Friday, June 10, from 6-8:30 p.m.

Admission is $2.

Food Giveaway

The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil, will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, June 11, from 1-3 p.m.

Camper Rally Scheduled

The third Southern Indiana Vintage Camper Rally will take place June 9-12, at Vigo County's Fowler Park and Pioneer Village.

The rally is open to all trailers 25 years and older regardless of make, model, type, size and condition.

Reelsville Breakfast!

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., Saturday, June 11.

Free Cancer Screenings

St. Vincent Clay Hospital will offer free cervical cancer screenings Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Screenings are for women 18-over.

Open House

The Clay Community Schools Building and Trades program has scheduled an open house for its new home, which sits at 1726 E. Bill Brown Court, in Clay View Estates (located on East Pinckley Street in Brazil).

The event will take place Sunday, June 12, from 1-5 p.m.

Community Dinner

The Lady Volunteers of the Staunton Community Center will conduct a community dinner at the center June 17.

The menu will consist of ham and beans, potatoes, desserts, coffee, tea and lemonade.

The dinner will begin at 4 p.m., and conclude at 7 p.m.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10-under.

Bucshon To Speak

United States Rep. Larry Bucshon, who represents Indiana's 8th District, will be the featured speaker at the June 28 meeting for the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting will take place at St. Vincent Clay Hospital and is scheduled for noon.

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to the Clay County Chamber of Commerce by June 21, by calling Chamber Executive Director Tiffany Cook at 448-8457.

Cost for the lunch is $7 for members and $10 for non-members.

Reunion

A reunion for those who served on the USS Maddox Destroyer will take place Aug. 25-28, in Branson, Mo.
