He was born July 16, 1926, in Center Point, Clay County, Ind., to John Clifford Jeffers and Ida Floy (Logston) Jeffers.
He married Norma J. (Mitchell) Jeffers Dec. 24, 1949, in Terre Haute. She survives.
Mr. Jeffers was a 1944 graduate of Ashboro High School in Clay County and was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran.
He retired as a mill operator for Bridgeport Brass/Olin Brass in Indianapolis after 45 years of service.
He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports.
Survivors include his wife Norma J. (Mitchell) Jeffers, Franklin, Ind., daughters Brenda Swan (Russell), Greenwood, Ind., Dr. Debra Holmes (Timothy), Franklin, Ind., and Dawn Morgan (Timothy), Greenwood, siblings Harold L. Jeffers (Carrie), Greenfield, Bertha A. Boyce, Clay County, Reah V. Sprouse Prevatt, Ft. Myers, Fla., Ruth I. Wehrmeyer, Warner Robins, Ga., and Dennis K. Jeffers, Santa Fe, N.M., grandchildren Kyle Swan (Sara), Burlington, Ky., Brent Swan (Marina Molenda), Chicago, Adrianne Leavell (Joe), Greenwood, Emily Morgan, Greenwood, Hannah Morgan, Greenwood, Katy Holmes, Istanbul, Turkey, and Geoffrey Holmes, Houston, Texas, and great-grandchildren Henry Swan and Asher Swan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Hazel I. Miller.
Rev. David Mark Owens and Rev. John Eley will conduct a service Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin.
Friends may call Monday, June 6, 2011, from 4-8 p.m., at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. U.S. 31, Franklin, and from 9:30 a.m., until time of service Tuesday, at the Wright Chapel.
Burial will be in the Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery, Greenwood.
