Helen Lakota Schepper, 89, Clay City, went to be with the Lord June 9, 2011. Helen was comforted and cared for by her family in her final weeks.

Helen was born March 9, 1922, the daughter of Coy Otis Cooprider and Cora Marie (Dreisdadt) Cooprider. She was the oldest of nine children. She was a homemaker, was employed by CBS for many years and worked at several local restaurants in Clay City. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, her cats, euchre and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar Roy Schepper, brother Charles Cooprider, sister-in-law Lois Cooprider, brother Wilbur Cooprider, sister Sue Johnson, sister Dorothy Seymour and brother-in-Law Harold Seymour.

She is survived by her daughters Jackie Smith, Clay City, Joellen Nicoson, Clay City, son John (Kim) Schepper, Terre Haute, sister Patty Moore, brother Don (Barb) Cooprider, sister Wildonna Heaton, brother Homer (Karen) Cooprider, sister-in-law Thelma Cooprider, brother-in-law Ronnie Johnson, granddaughter Kim (Steve) Cooper, grandsons Harold (Kimberlie) Smith, Kirk (Jamie) Smith, Jason Nicoson, Gregg Nicoson, granddaughters Tara (Mike) Seybold, Daisy (Eddie) McHargue, Jessie Schepper, step granddaughter Breana Jackson, great-granddaughter Faith Wyatt great-grandson John Wyatt.

Her family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to her sister Patty Moore for the kind-heartedness and care she gave to Helen for so long.

Memorial services for Helen will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 4 p.m., with Mr. Harold Francis Smith III officiating, with visitation at the funeral home Sunday, from 2-4 p.m.
