On Sunday, volunteers with the Clay County Humane Society officially renamed the Forest Park concession stand, "Annie's Snack Shack," in honor of volunteer Ann Hoopingarner (left). Holding the sign with Hoopingarner is volunteer Laura DeMers. [Order this photo]
For approximately 13 years, Ann Hoopingarner and Sunday concerts at Forest Park have gone together like peanut butter and jelly.

Hoopingarner volunteers for the Clay County Humane Society (CCHS), which runs the concession stand during the Brazil Concert Band concerts.

"She's the county's A No. 1 volunteer," CCHS volunteer Laura DeMers said.

DeMers had run the volunteer program for eight years. CCHS has used the concession stand for 10 years for benefits. All proceeds from concession sales go to the organization.

On Sunday, the organization elected to honor Hoopingarner by renaming the concession stand.

It will now be known as, "Annie's Snack Shack."

"Ann has never missed a day," DeMers said of Hoopingarner, who sells beverages and popcorn to those in attendance while walking through the crowds.

Hoopingarner was unaware Sunday was her day.

"Thank you very much," she told the crowd as they gave her a standing ovation. "I didn't know this was going to happen."

Without objection. Well deserved. Annie has SERVED this community for many a year. From when she first started carrying newspapers for Fred McDonald back in the early 70's. Thanks Annie.

I think this is great and wonderful thing. I remember Ann and her Family and I am sure that not only is she happy but the family is proud. Thank you Brazil Indiana for never changing what I have always been raised to believe. Love one another !
