WOW bus coming to Brazil Walmart

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

On Saturday, the Women's Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Bus will be at the Brazil Walmart.

The bus will be at the location looking for 6-10 women to come to the bus during this time to receive the education and mini-physicals as well as helping troubleshoot processes.

The event is sponsored by the Indiana University National Center of Excellence in Women's Health. Earlier this year, the group conducted focus groups with women in Clay County and based on the feedback received in those groups, the organization devised a mobile outreach program targeting cervical cancer education and awareness for women in Clay County.

The bus will provide a mobile educational classroom with facilities to conduct basic mini-physicals of height, weight, blood pressure and glucose screens, free of charge. Two-three educational videos will also be available as instruction. Those participating will be on the bus for approximately 60-90 minutes.

Saturday's visit will be a trial run for the bus and the organization welcomes input from the participants as to what they liked, disliked, or any other suggestions for improvements.

Interested women should contact the organization's Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Lynn Baldwin, to schedule an appointment. Current openings are 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m.

Baldwin may be contacted toll-free at 1-877-847-0023, by e-mail at labaldwi@iupui.edu, or via facebook at www.facebook.com/iucoewomenshealth.

Officials informed The Brazil Times future WOW bus visits are being planned.
