Sara Alford, Miss Indiana State Fair 2011 Queen, will meet with candidates for the 2011 Clay County 4-H Fair Queen and Princess Pageants Thursday.
Alford will meet with the candidates during a get-together and discuss many things regarding pageants.
Alford, the daughter of Russell and Jacqueline Alford, Poneto, Ind., is a 20-year-old sophomore at Purdue University majoring in Agronomy.
She is the second representative from Wells County to reign as the Indiana State Fair Queen in the 53-year history of the contest.
Alford is a 10-year 4-H member, during which she was named Outstanding Junior Leader and received several Grand Champion project awards, in addition to several Indiana State Fair merit awards.
At Southern Wells High School, she served as her FFA Chapter Vice President, was a Lilly Scholarship alternate and received the "I Dare You" Leadership Award along with numerous academic, FFA and community awards, including the Outstanding Science, Math, English, History and Agriculture awards.
As the 53rd Indiana State Fair Queen, Alford will visit approximately 33 county fairs, festivals and queen pageants in June and July promoting the 2011 Indiana State Fair before serving as official hostess of the annual event, set for Aug. 5-21.

The Brazil Times plans to run photographs and information regarding the candidates for the 2011 Clay County 4-H Fair Queen and Princess Pageants. The pageant will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 2, at North Clay Middle School.
