Otter Creek Christian Church

While I typed these words once, again my opinion has not changed the most important time in the history of a Christian is the resurrection from our sins ours by the blood of Jesus wheo rose from the dead and then ascended to heaven, what a glorious day that was.

For followers of Jesus, this, in my opinion, is the most important of celebrations. This shows us just how much God loved us not only to send His son to live for 33 years as a human, but to die the most possible of cruel deaths, crucified on a cross to be buried and (to me this is the best) to be resurrected on the third day.

What Love for us while we still sinners and he(Jesus) was without sin God did this for us. If Jesus had not risen, he would have been just like any other man, not the Saviour of our souls. Thank You God for sending Jesus for my sins. Thank you for not judging me the way we judge others and more importantly for how we judge you.

Thank You for knowing our hearts better than we know them sometimes. Give us each the strength to show from day to day your love so others will know we are your children by that love. Help us not to judge a book by its cover and get to know the book you put in our pathway even if it is another person and especially when it is one we tend to not like.

John 13:35 says "By this all will know that you are MY disciples, if you have love for one another."

We can best do this by bearing one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ -- Galatians 6:2

Here is a short prayer that was written by anonymous:

Lord, teach us the secret of loving

The Love You are asking today:

Then help us to love one another;

For this we most earnestly pray.

Otter Creek Church is located at 6299 N. Crow Street, Brazil, Ind.

Sunday Study 9:30 a.m.; Sunday Worship at 10:40 a.m.

Remember this is the single most important day in the Christian calendar of events and your life, accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour now you may not have tomorrow.

Community Missionary

Pastor Ken Thomas opened services with a warm greeting along with prayers of thanks and praise for our Lord and Saviour. He then turned the service over to Peg Parksey, whom led the congregational singing. Afterward, Debbie Meganhardt sang the special number, "I'll Be the Angel by Your Side." A fairly new song with meaning, and sung from the heart. Debbie does a fine job planning her singing for the church.

Bro. Thomas called for tithes and offerings and led the doxology. He then made all visitors welcome and spoke of his home visits and hospital, and led in prayer for the sick and the shut-ins, the spoken and unspoken requests, and for our military in harm's way.

He opened his service with a thought asking if we enjoyed a mystery? Did we remember Alfred Hitchcock's mystery shows? And if we knew the bad guy right off? And those we learn later? Well, the Bible has many mysteries that have been hidden for ages.

The Jewish people thought they were the only ones who could understand the mystery of Jesus. Not so. It is for everyone to know the mystery. "The Church" ... When the church comes together, that is "the body of Christ." I don't want this to be a mystery to you.

Read Eph. where a husband leaves his parents to seek a wife. When Jesus left his heavenly home, he came to seek His bride -- His church. It is still a mystery to many as if they are looking for something and cannot find it. Sometimes we need to find what we are looking for. It can remain a mystery where that something went or what happened to it.

You Christians are "His church"; you are his bride. I Tim. 3:14-16 says, if Jesus is not the center of your life, then you best make Him the center of your life. "Great is the mystery of Godliness;" he reveals the secret of how to become godly. Did you ever wonder why He became human? He did it for us, and that same spirit that helped Jesus, will help us. Faith is required when it comes to living a Christian life, but we need to call on His spirit for help.

Rom9:10 -- "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth" -- and then Paul tells us the good news -- Who is the church? Anybody who has confessed and put their life in the hand of the Lord, is His Church. All we have to do is accept Jesus in our hearts.

Rev3:20 -- "Behold I stand at the door and knock -- if any man hear my voice." Many voices can be heard at the door, so when we hear that knock asking who it is, Jesus says, "My sheep know my voice."

Pastor Thomas and Beverly invite one and all to visit us at 21 W. Pinckley.

Center Point United Methodist Church

Goodness sakes!! Tomorrow is going to be one busy day!! I hope all you fathers out there have a wonderful day with your families. We will honor our fathers and sons with candy bars after church. Each Father's Day we have a drawing and three men get a special dessert. This year we have Myrna Heffner's O'Henry Bars, Joan Youngblood's Cherry Delight and Jacinda Tucker's Pecan Pie. Each of these bring big money at our Pie Auction in March. Thank you, ladies, for providing these goodies.

Not only is tomorrow a busy day, but next week will be a busy one as well. Our VBS starts Monday evening at 6:30. The theme this year is "Shake It Up Cafe." The kids will learn about God's "recipe" for their lives. You are welcome to bring your little ones. Ages are from 2 yrs. through 5th grade.

A week from today is the annual Center Point & Community VFD Fish Fry. You don't want to miss that. Come have some good food and listen to the entertainment.

Two weeks from today we will have a Freewill Offering Breakfast at the church from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. I have been told they will be serving sausage gravy with biscuits, sausage and eggs, oj, coffee, etc. I don't know if they are going to have pancakes. I will let you know next week. We will be raising money to feed the children that come to three days of Bible School in Haiti during our mission trip next month. We estimate that it will take about $2500 to feed approx. 1000 children per day. They have a BIG turnout for Bible School in Haiti!! Come help us meet this need. Save that date, July 2. Come and enjoy ... maybe before you go "yard sale-ing."

Pastor Bob Kumpf sent this concerning his message for tomorrow. You can see...the celebrations just keep coming! Here is what he shared.

This week's message is from 1 John 1:1-3 and is titled, 'The Word of Life.' During worship we will be celebrating Father's Day, Graduates, VBS Kickoff and a Liturgy for Youth. That's a busy morning and several great reasons to celebrate! But in each of those there is both rejoicing and worry of what might come in the future. It is a perfect time to reflect on John's message to the faithful.

In his role of encourager, John shares the truth.... GOD IS FAITHFUL! From the beginning.. when He created the world... the Word of Life has been at the Father's side and when humankind fell away from God and was lost... He sent His Son... The Word of Life in flesh... to save and restore! Many people walked with Him, ate with Him and witnessed His miracles. Many saw and felt the rejection of the people towards Him along with the hatred the religious leaders had for Him (and His followers). Many saw Him falsely accused, tried, spit on, beaten and crucified. But they also saw Him resurrected! So, as a witness to all of these things, John was able to give witness and testify, 'I can tell you with complete confidence... Don't Worry! Let your joy be complete!'"

John also wrote down what Jesus said. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) If we don't know Jesus, we don't know the way to God. We invite you to come meet Jesus and get to know Him. This will complete your joy. Be in the house of God tomorrow. Be blessed.
