Mary Jane Proctor Jones passed away at 6:59 p.m., at the Terre Haute Nursing Home.

She was born May 13, 1923, to James and Pauline Proctor.

She grew up in Brazil.

She worked as a Registered Nurse for William L. Strecker, St. Anthony Hospital and the Vigo County Visiting Nurse.

Mary was a member of the Hulman Memorial at Saint Anthony Hospital, Alumnae Association Affiliating with Southwest District of the Indiana State Nurses Association and A.N.A., Life Member of the Vigo County historical Society, past member of the Rockport Women's Club, DAR Member in the Ft. Harrison Chapter.

She attended Bible study at the Washington Presbyterian Church and the Rockport Presbyterian Church.

She was an avid Bridge, Yahtzee and Scrabble player. She enjoyed reading and making candy and peanut butter fudge.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Lawrence Ryman Jones Sr., brother, parents James and Pauline Proctor, Brazil, Ind., her beloved aunts Mary Stevens and Gertrude Cherry, uncles "Brownie" Peyton, Mac and Ernie Proctor, granddaughter Cathi Jane Thompson and her cousins Mary Ann and Bob Stevens.

She is survived by her daughter Trudi Thompson and her husband Robert Holcombe, West Columbia, Texas, son Larry Jones Jr. and his wife Linda, Terre Haute, sister-in-law Margaret Lu Burns, Pflugerville, Texas, brothers Robert Proctor and Jimmy Proctor, grandchildren L.Ry Jones, Elizabeth Thompson, Leah Jones and Jennifer Rayne DeVivo, and great-grandchildren Henry Ryman, Alan Mathison Turing Rigel Price Jones, Arden Jones, Anna Jones, Indiana Abigail Ophoven, Quinino James DiVivo, and Taylor Morgan Cash Ophoven, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springville Dr., with Rev. Linda Jo Peters officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2011, from 1-5 p.m.

Burial will be in Hull Cemetery.
