PADUCAH, Ky. -- Wayne Newton Post 346 opened tourney play at Paducah, Ky. on Thursday night by drilling Cape Girardeau, Mo. by an 8-2 score and followed that up early on Friday afternoon with a 9-1 victory over Shelbyville, Ky. in a game halted after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Against Cape Girardeau, Post 346 got a two-run home run from Zac Niehaus and a grand slam from Scott West to improve to 14-2 this season.

Niehaus' shot opened scoring for Post 346 in the first inning as he also smacked a double in the victory. Caleb Mason was 3-for-3 in the win and Kodie Girton pounded out a double and was 2-for-5 in the contest. Seth Lunsford drove in a run with a double.

Zach Kent was 3-for-5 with a double for Post 346.

Bryan Nacke got the pitching victory with a six-hitter and 11 strikeouts.

Friday afternoon, Post 346 got a double and an RBI from AJ Reed and two RBIs apiece from Nacke and West.

West got the pitching victory, settling in after allowing a leadoff home run in the first inning.

Post 346 was scheduled to play a 9 p.m. game on Friday night versus Ballwin, Mo. Wayne Newton has already qualified for the winner's bracket and will face Ballwin, Mo. again at approximately 10 a.m.
